A Marion County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against a Greensburg man in connection with a series of alleged offenses stemming from an April 14 incident.
Kern Kost, 27, of 207 South 1st Street, Greensburg, has been indicted on multiple charges including trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 ounces, second offense), fleeing or evading police in the first degree (motor vehicle), and driving on a DUI-suspended license (third offense). The indictment also includes misdemeanor charges and traffic violations.
According to court documents, the charges are as follows:
Count 1: Trafficking in marijuana, less than 8 ounces – second offense (Class D felony)
Count 2: Fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle – first degree (Class D felony)
Count 3: Driving on a DUI-suspended license – third offense (Class D felony)
Count 4: Possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor)
Count 5: Speeding 26 miles per hour or more over the posted limit (traffic violation)
Count 6: Reckless driving (traffic violation)
Count 7: Failure to wear a seatbelt (traffic violation)
Count 8: Persistent Felony Offender – First Degree (enhancement charge)
The indictment alleges that Kost attempted to flee from law enforcement during a traffic stop and was driving under a DUI suspension at the time. Officers also reportedly discovered suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and noted multiple traffic infractions during the incident.
Kost is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The indictment is a formal accusation and does not constitute a conviction.
